RE: Frisco TX man says HOA won't let him park pickup on driveway

What is a HOA?
It's a form of Communism with a bunch of snobs telling everyone else what to do, how to paint their houses mow their lawns and how to dress when their outside. And what kind of pickup they can park in their yards.

RE: Colorado River Adventures

Havasu park is quite a distance from the water. If you want to use a beach you have to go to the County beach a few miles down the road. Needles park is right on the river, but the river goes up and down quite a bit the same as in Laughlin. I am a member ofCRA and I bought in when it was more family oriented. Now a days they allow tenters in there. It used to be RV only. Some to the members don't even have tents, they sleep in their boats. Their mostly the ones who want to make noise and party all night long. Last time we were there we complained quite a few times to security, they didn't do anything. Once you buy in you are a member for life. If you are late sending in your yearly dues they send the bill to collections.

RE: Generator power share?

The power management system tyhat he is refering to is more than likely the same as the EMS, energy management system that is used on bounders and winnebagos and some other units. Yes both AC units do run at the same time. No they do not run at different times they do not CYCLE. The EMS turns off power from some items when more power is used than is supplied. It's called shedding power. I can run both AC units and the microwave if the power converter is not running at the same time. If you have a 50 amp system ( really a 100 amp system, 50 amps on each side ) you can run on a 30 amp generator but you will have to track amp usage so you don't pop the reset button on your generator.
I really love it when some people say that we don't know what we are talking about when we have these EMS systems and they have no idea what these EMS systems do.

RE: Fridge maintenance...

If you don't use your frig for fairly long periods of time you can get a gas spider in the tubes. You should blow the unit out with compressed air to clear any debris and spiders out of the lines. If you have a spider it can keep the propane from igniting. At least that's something to look for that won't cost you a lot of money.

RE: emergency Gen starting

Wouldn't starting your truck charge the TC batteries? If so that's all you would have to do. If not, then you should look into getting a battery isolater and hook all the systems together.

RE: 1st Walmart stay, had a bad experience!

There is just as much crime in a Regular Campground as in the Walmart lots. At least the WalMart lots have 24 hour security in them. A lot of campgrounds don't have any kind of security after 10:00 or so. If you feel insecure in WalMart parking lots and don't want to stay in them anymore, that's OK it leaves more room for the rest of us.

RE: Shoreline to gen in truck bed while traveling

I did this with my TT when I had it. I permanently ran a piece of romex the length of the TT under the frame. The romex came out right near where the 30amp plug was and the other end terminated right next to the trailer tongue. I ran a short extension cord from the generator to the plug at the tongue of the tt and plugged it in. When I got to the park I had to unplug the romex from the 30amp plug to plug into the park.

RE: Stupid question........

Thanks....So.......If my bosses bought a motorhome in Ca, listed as a 27', that would be from bumper to bumper??
Not necessarly. The manufacturer can call it anything that they want. Some 30' units are 32' long and some are only 29' long.

RE: low voltage!

I shut my AC units off if the voltage goes below 108. Any lower than that your AC unit is straining and I don't want to pay for a new unit. Your unit might not quit because of the strain for one year or more but it is getting strained and will have a shortened life.

RE: Bad WalMart Campers

The Walmart/Lowes near us is having homeless move into their parking lot. There is 7 RV's parked there for the last 2 months. Walmart and Lowes doesn't seem to mind, at least they havent told them to move. They definately are not the overnighters that we talk about.

RE: What causes fires in a MH?

I don't burn my hands. The tires and rims can get hot and you can feel the heat the same way you feel it when holding your hands up to a campfire about 2 feet away. I have a IR thermometer, but it isn't needed to see if a tire is hot. Using a IR thermometer to find a hot tire is like looking up in the sky to see if the sun is out.

RE: What causes fires in a MH?

Anytime you stop, the first thing you should do is walk around the RV and put your hand down near the wheels and see if there is a lot of heat coming off of the wheels. If they are real hot then you need to have the brakes looked at ASAP. By real hot, I mean you wouldn't want to touch the metal wheels anywhere. I had the brakes on my last TT hang up and melt the plastic hub caps off and leave hot plastic all down the side of the TT. Pulling with my diesel Pickup I didn't even feel the extra pull of the brakes. Now I usually stop at least every 100 miles ( due to a bad back problem ) and I walk around checking the wheels and lights.

RE: Video of Motorhome Fire in Deleware

Fire could have started anywhere. I did notice that the propane tank didn't explode. I will still travel with my frig running even if the frig caused the fire. Also this unit looks like it is in the general age where they had a frig recall because they had a propane line that would crack.

RE: Colorado River Adventures Resorts

"What does Colo river auth parks have to do with this subject? You are talking about something completely different."
I suppose I should appologize, I did not realize that Emeral rv resort pulled out of the Colorado River Adventures chain of seven rv resorts.
Wonder when they did that? Anyone know?
Strange their website still shows them as a resort in that organization. However, I could be wrong.

You said Colo River AUTH parks. Not Colorado Rivers Adventure. Never mind. I guess it was just your spelling. And I looked under all those spellings and could not find the lawsuits. And I don't like the CRA.

Do yourself a favor, Google up CRA , colo river auth parks, and you will find webpages that are dedicated to lawsuits against this company.

RE: Colorado River Adventures Resorts

We are members of that park. Last I knew they were asking about $5000 for membership. They have various types of mamberships. They used to be a family oriented park and you had to own a RV before you could buy in. Now anyone can buy in if you own a RV or not. They have cabins and TT's that are letting prople use if they buy that kind of membership. It seems to me that the people who buy those memberships dont know enough to not walk through or run through others campsites. The last time I was there someone who owned a large boat was parked in a campspot, they had their CD player cranked up at 1:00 AM and were partying. We notified the security ( as if they couldn't hear them across the park). The security did go over there and tell them that they had to quite down. That lasted about 5 minutes and the noise was on again. After telling them 3 times to quiet down the security ignored our request to do something. Ten years ago when we bought in, if you were making any noise after 10:00 PM and did not quiet down, then they threw you out of the park. Not anymore. Another thing, once you buy in then you have to keep paying the yearly upkeep fee of about $300.00 or moer for the rest of your life. With some contracts you can transfer them, but if you keep the contract and don't pay the yearly fee they will send out to a collections outfit to collect their money. Good luck. Enjoy the free visit they give you, when listening to the high pressure sales staff don't believe anything that they tell you, ask for everything they said in writing and ask where to see it in writing.

RE: A/C Freeze-up

Where you are located you have extremely high humidity at this time of year due to the Monsoon season being on top of you. The AC unit is having trouble removing all that humidity fast enough. You are going to have to crack the roof vent to allow the warmer, more humid air to leave through the roof vent. I have camped quite a bit along the Colorado river during the Monsoon and that is the only way to keep the AC unit running without freezing up during the night. Another thought is to take showers in the morning as showers do add to the humidity in the RV.
